About the festival

PROGRAM

Come and chat with other Chilizroots about growing, processing and eating chilies. In addition, relaxing music, the pleasant environment of Björnson orchards, stands with hot and non-hot snacks and chilled beers from craft breweries. The highlight of the program is the spicy food eating competition – Chilizrout.

FOOD AND DRINK

Do you like it when the taste of chili pleasantly shimmers on your tongue? If so, you will love Chillibraní. At each stall you can taste a different chili delicacy. From sauces, drinks to burgers and other specialties. Even if you don’t like spicy food. Each snack stand will offer at least one goody that doesn’t burn.
Beer lovers will also enjoy it! This year, brewers from craft breweries will offer their best pieces.

ENTERTAINMENT

Come with the whole family and enjoy a pleasant Saturday together. You can taste and learn new recipes. A playground will be available for children.

CHILLI MARKET

You don’t have to go home empty-handed. Stock up on enough chilies to last the year! You can buy a lot of chili treats and other delicacies on site.

2012

  • We have no idea what we’re getting into

2013

2014

  • The action moves to the Riviera

  • Number of visitors who sought medical help: 3 (two of them were security guards)

2015

  • We are introducing two stages
  • Number of items on the program: 19
  • The first chef with a Michelin star
  • Frčely cooking shows: Oldřich Sahajdák, Petr Oknecht, Tejinder Riard, Jan Pavlas
  • The first lecturer from abroad. Englishman Jason Nickels
  • Korean national television has arrived
  • Number of satisfied visitors: 5,050
  • Amount of chili consumed: over 200 kg
  • Number of visitors who sought medical help: 0!
  • We donated 17,000 from the entrance fee to the organization Give children a chance, o.p.s.

2016

  • We celebrated our 5th birthday
  • The attendance was a record
  • The finale of Chilližrouta was spiced up by a proposal
  • Petr Holešinský defended last year’s victory and his Kačenka said YES
  • For the first time, visitors could swim in the pools
  • Beer from small breweries was flowing
  • The program ended with a concert by Xavier Baumaxa
  • We donated over 40,000 CZK to Give Children a Chance

2017

  • The event was attended by over 6,000 people
  • There was a cooking show, competitions, lectures and a varied menu
  • Chilibraní was enriched by the Apetit picnic
  • Chilli-eater Petr Holešínský won for the third time and promised to give others a chance until next time

2018

The event did not take place due to the serious illness of the main organizer.

2019

  • Chilli growers and consumers from all over the Czech Republic and abroad gathered.
  • The program was filled with culinary shows, workshops and tastings.
  • Roman Lepík won the championship of the Czech and Slovak Republic in eating hot foods – Chilližrout.
  • Live music performed by Pigs on the Run warmed up the audience as well as the ubiquitous chili.
  • Lots of stalls with a variety of hot and non-hot snacks offered tasty delicacies of all kinds.
  • Craft beers from eight microbreweries flowed.
  • Despite the rainy weather, over 3,500 chili lovers arrived at the event.

2020

  • Despite the restrictions due to COVID 19, many chili growers and consumers from all over the Czech Republic met.
  • Roman Lepík won the championship of the Czech and Slovak Republic in eating hot foods – MiniChilližrout.
  • Stands with hot and non-hot refreshments filled the entire park.
  • The sauce of the year was won by the guys from My-Chilli with Cherry Chutney.
  • Over 1,000 chili lovers arrived at the MiniChillibraní.

2021

  • In 2021 Chillibraní was again only to a lesser extent in Björnson’s orchards.
  • The program was filled with competitions, but the workshops and tastings were fun and we welcomed over 2,000 visitors
  • Daniel Všetečka won the championship of the Czech and Slovak Republic in eating hot foods – Chilližrout.
  • Lots of stalls with a variety of hot and non-hot snacks offered tasty delicacies of all kinds.
  • Craft beer was once again abundantly represented by microbreweries.
  • The product of the year was won by the guys from My Chilli.

2022

  • The year 2022
  • We celebrated our 10th birthday
  • The program was filled with culinary shows, workshops and tastings
  • Daniel Všetečka won the championship of the Czech and Slovak Republic in eating hot foods – Chilližrout
  • Competitions with our partners added variety to the program
  • Craft beers, including Habanero additions especially for our festival, flowed again
  • Product of the year was won by The Chilli Doktor with sour cherry jam.

2023

The year 2023 awaits us

How did it actually come about?

From the pepper, in 2012. That’s right. If it wasn’t for our beloved chili, there would never be this festival. And of course several friends who put a piece of their heart into it all, a lot of time, unprecedented worries, but in return they get joy from the good feeling of others. You – visitors, chili eaters..

What is happening there?

The program is packed and made so that everyone can find something. There are also cooking shows, educational entertainment blocks and musical experiences. The highlight of the program is, of course, the Chiližrout competition.

Where does it take place?

After all, in Brno, where most of the Chillibraní organizers were born. Peppers are grown well here, there is a lot of sunshine and overall it is a fertile part of Moravia. In addition, the Anthropos – Na Střelák playground provides pleasant areas full of greenery and quiet places.

And why is it here?

The world of chili is beautiful, diverse, fragrant, interesting and above all extremely tasty. We basically fell for him and since there was no event in our mother country or nearby that tried to show it at least a little, we decided to be a guide for one afternoon.

For who is it?

No exaggeration to say for everyone. Little ones, teenagers, adults, grandmothers, grandfathers, … Look at the photo gallery, we were also surprised.

What’s the atmosphere like there?

Loads of tension, fun, something educational, interesting, everywhere people are just relaxing on the grass, on picnic blankets, food, drink to your heart’s content, decent people… Simply relaxing.

An event that should not be missed by anyone who literally loves chili!
